GGA Designs New Headquarters for Growing Technology Company, Salient Federal Solutions
Washington, DC
GGA (GGA) was recently selected as the architect for the new headquarters of Salient Federal Solutions, a rapidly growing federal IT and engineering solutions firm. The new 20,000 SF headquarters occupies the 6th floor of the Fairfax, VA Center Pointe II and is slated for completion in March 2011. GGA is working with Catherine Jones, Senior Vice President at UGL-EQUIS who acted as the broker for the project.
Currently in design, the new office design will be flexible and provide a quality work environment that incorporates a variety of sustainable solutions. Most importantly, the space gives Salient, which recently acquired SGIS, a $101M federal technology service provider, much needed room for growth. The design for the new space is pragmatic and simple in its design approach and responds to strict security needs that require the office to be divided into four quadrants.
The first quadrant houses an executive suite with appropriately sized executive offices, which overlook a wooded area facing Dulles Airport. The suite is accessible from the elevator lobby and has a single, secured entrance with a private reception desk. The offices have glass walls that run the length of the main circulation spine, which is also used as a gallery. At the end of the gallery is an informal café for spontaneous collaboration. The design allowed GGA to create an enfilade of public spaces across from the executive suite that gives transparency throughout the entire space.
In quadrant two, visitors enter into a comfortable seating area that opens to the elevator lobby. The main conference room, which is located in this area, seats up to 50 people and will be outfitted with state of the art high-tech audio visual equipment. Adjacent to the conference room is the more formal board room. The walls will be acoustically treated with sound absorbing finishes and wood panels that accentuate the more corporate atmosphere. Two flexible SCIF facilities, offices, workstations and a copy room, work room and pantry occupy quadrant three, where quadrant four is a more traditional office environment with workstations and offices for support staff.
“For a rapidly growing technology company like Salient Federal Solutions, form, function and flexibility are essential,” said Franck Le Bousse, Principal, GGA. “This new headquarters is about growth and flexibility, and GGA’s design balances a simple layout that accomdates the complexities of transparency and strict security requirements.”
