GGA to Provide Design Services for $10 M Renovation of Walter E. Washington Convention Center

GGA (GGA) was recently retained to provide design services for the 132,000 SF renovation of the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, DC. GGA and its consultants have partnered with Columbia Enterprises / Forrester Construction Joint Venture to complete this design/build project, which includes 60,000 SF of new meeting rooms and 72,000 SF of exhibit space.
 
GGA’s design for the new wing incorporates state-of-the-art audio visual solutions and energy management solutions to the Center’s lighting and mechanical controls. The meeting rooms will also include innovative sound insulated walls that collapse into the ceilings and allow for room flexibility. The Convention Center will remain fully functional during the project, which is slated for completion in December 2009.
