Crossland High School Addition
GGA’s design concept for the 800 seat auditorium addition for Crossland High School Auditorium provides for educational instruction space not presently part of the existing facility. The new addition, of approximately 18, 500 SF, will support the performing arts program and includes an auditorium, stage, dressing rooms, storage rooms, Black Box Theater, ticket booth, projection room, office, and lobby area. GGA’s concept creates a design that not only meets the program requirements of the program but locates the addition in an area that creates a new iconic school entrance and lobby, provides better access and traffic patterns for visitors, provides for the opportunity of shared functions already within the school, and allows for phasing the project while not interrupting ongoing school functions.
The addition is sited to create an iconic entrance for a high school that had no significant presence and it does so in a location that accommodated the entrance and the lobby for the main auditorium and performing arts center. The all glass enclosure opens the school to the community and creates an inviting entry to the building. The project is being designed to meet LEED Gold Certification.
