Securities and Exchange Commission, Station Place 3
GGA provided comprehensive A/E services for the 210,000 SF expansion of the Securities and Exchange Commission’s headquarters at Station Place 3, the third of three buildings in the HQ complex. The 4 floor expansion was designed as a model for new office standards for the SEC to be implemented in agency wide across the county, providing a new level of efficiency, quality and sustainability. The project was done on a fast track schedule based on the needs of the SEC to expand rapidly to fulfill their mission.
The design consisted of new offices, visiting employee business centers, common business service centers, conference rooms, training and multipurpose centers and lounge pantry areas. The design concept provided a LEED Silver level of design with an abundance of natural light and lighting controls. Sustainable, recycled and local materials were used throughout, both in the finishes and furniture. The overall design program included graphics and art which were also developed as part of the overall standards program.
The design concept was to provide a professional quality environment that could compete with the private sector to help secure the best and brightest employees as well as provide an efficient and effective sustainable workplace.
